Biographical History

Ronald Hertzmann, the donor, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA in 1945. His father, Otto Hertzmann, was born in Krefeld, Germany, in 1906 and died in London in 1976. He had emigrated to the USA on 9 August 1937, where his father's sister, Adele lived and where he met his wife. Then together with his wife, Isabelle, the family moved to London in 1950.

Otto's father, Hugo Herzmann was born in Krefeld in 1871 and died on 21 November 1939. Hugo married Emelie Bendix (born 1872, Billerbeck Germany). She was deported from Krefeld on 25 July 1942 to Theresienstadt and thence to Treblinka on 29 September 1942 where she likely was murdered.
