Biographical History

Moritz Mecklenburg was born in 1880 in Luebeck and died in March 1945 in Shanghai, where he is buried at the Jewish cemetery. His family had founded a paper factory for the newspaper and writing paper markets in 1870 in Luebeck. Moritz became a metal broker and married Elise Adler, born 1881 in Chemnitz. They emigrated to Shanghai in 1939. Elise managed to gain passage to England in 1947 as a displaced person. It is assumed that the Adler family (1564/2) are related but it is not known how.
