Scope and Content
Fonds consists of records relating to B'Nai Brith and are divided into numerous series, including information on: administration of B'Nai Brith, such as minutes and conventions, regional councils and district offices, the Executive; B'Nai Brith Insurance and Retirement programmes; B'Nai Brith Women and other Jewish Women's organizations; Youth Organizations; leadership training programmes and materials; Soviet Jewry; Research and Planning Committee; Canada-Israel Committee; Joint Community Relations Committee (JCRC); Canadian Jewish Congress; National Comminuty Relations Advisory Council; National Budgeting Conference of Canadian Jewry; B'Nai Brith International and Supreme Lodge Commission on Israel; B'Nai Brith Canada Lodges; League for Human Rights; Anti-Defamation League; and Canadian Family of Man Award.
Fonds also contains various graphic material. Photographs depict activities of B'nai B'rith Canada in Ontario, Quebec and Manitoba, ca. 1957-1985: fund-raising activities; community service activities on behalf of disadvantaged people; activities on behalf of human rights in Canada and other countries; conferences sponsored by Anti-Defamation League and the League for Human Rights; and Canadian Family of Man Awards presentation ceremonies. Photographs also depict audience members attending the Public Forum on Hate Propaganda on 24 September 1984, sponsored by the League for Human Rights; signing of the Anti-Defamation League / League for Human Rights Agreement, 18 January 1982. Present at the signing were Howard Ross, Meyer Lecker, Dave Mankofsky, Morley Wolfe, Conrad Shafner, Harvey Cresthol, Alan Shefman, Lionel White, Arthur Hiess, Phil Leon, Julian Kotler, Ted Greenfield, and Frank Dimant; and views of buildings at the Eliahu Golomb Soldiers House, Eliat, Israel, constructed with funds from the Eastern Canadian Council of B'nai B'rith Canada.
Also included in fonds are sound recordings relating to B'nai B'rith Canada including a speech by Frank Diamant, a message from U.S. President of B'nai B'rith David Blumberg, a slide show soundtrack and recorded phone conversations. In addition, fonds includes one film reel depicting two versions of a television commercial for B'Nai B'rith save and serve coupons. Fonds also contains objects consisting of five Toronto B'nai B'rith Canada Lodge pins.
