The Hamburg State Archives has been functioning for 300 years. The archive contains more than 30,000 meters of documents of the Hamburg city administration, as well as major private institutions and individuals in the city.
Archival and Other Holdings
Staatsarchiv Hamburg contains archival materials pertaining to the history of Hamburg. Their collections include administrative documents, court records, military records, religious community records, among others. Among others contains restitution- and/or compensation-related materials: 1. Amt für Wiedergutmachung, 2. Landgericht Hamburg–Wiedergutmachung (BEG), 3. Verwaltungsgericht Hamburg (Einzefallakten, z.T Klagen, Vergleiche); closed files; (access might be restricted).
