    These papers emanate in the main from the offices of regional commanders in occupied Belgium and deal with a variety of issues relating to problems encountered by the Nazi occupation forces.

  4. NSDAP Auslandorganisation: newsletter extracts

    This collection consists primarily of typescript extracts from the official organ of the NSDAP Auslandsorganisation. It appears that the extracts were compiled contemporaneously, possibly by the JCIO. The date of the last extract, January 1936, gives some indication as to the date of completion. The choice of extracts is explained in a footnote to a summary of the extracts (840/2) which states that only those articles were chosen which contained particularly interesting items of news and announcements.     This collection of circulars and information sheets distributed by the regional offices of the NSDAP Westfalen- Nord is evidence of the way in which the Nazi party hierarchy was able to disseminate information and instructions to the regional and area offices. The subjects covered are wide and varied, ranging from orders re the evacuation of women and children; intructions regarding restrictions of Mischlinge and Gypsies; advice on how to deal with enemy propaganda etc.The material has been arranged chronologically, ranging in date from April through to August 1941 with gaps between issues....

    This collection of copy documents is an example of the way in which the Nazis forcibly appropriated Jewish property under the guise of a legitimate transaction into which both parties freely entered.

  7. Arnold Rosé: copt documents re wartime musical activities

    The collection was deposited at the Wiener Library on the instruction of Richard Newman, co-author of Alma Rosé: Vienna to Auschwitz, Amadeus, USA, 2000. Alma Rosé was Arnold's daughter and became the conductor of the Auschwitz orchestra, where she died in 1944. Whilst the book obviously focuses on the experiences of Alma there is substantial biographical account of many members of the family including her father and his relation to the Mahler family.

  8. Siegfried Rotholz: personal papers

    These mostly original personal papers of Siegfried Rotholz, a German Jewish former resident of Berlin, who was transported to Australia on the 'Dunera', document his experiences as a refugee and his attempts to gain restitution money from the German government. Of particular interest is his account of the trip on the 'Dunera', replete with descriptions of the suffering endured by the internees, 847/3.

  9. Jewish Committee for Relief Abroad: reports on conditions of Jews and DPs in Europe

    Collection of reports from Jewish relief workers on the conditions of Jews and other displaced persons at the end of the Second World War. In addition to the reports there are two letters, covering notes for the reports when they were sent to other interested parties in 1946.

    This order from the Reichsvereinigung der Juden in Deutschland to Frau D. S. Allfeld, partner in a mixed marriage, to go on a work detail out of the city (Frankfurt a. M.) is evidence of the continuation of this organisation's activities (albeit in changed and much reduced form).After June 1943, when most of Germany's Jews had been deported to concentration/ death camps.
