Biographical History

Johannes Vosskamp (1896-1945) was a veteran of World War I and so were his brothers. It is unclear when he became a Nazi party member. In World War II, he was drafted at the age of 46 (ca. 1942) as part of "Organisation Todt" behind the lines. He was sent to Serbia and was declared "missing in action" at the end of the war in 1945.

Scope and Content

"Sonntagschule Duisburg-Meiderich Quadtstr." Led by Fritz Fackert and Oskar Brauner. "Sommerausflug 1936 nach Mintard" [A Summer Outing to Mintard, 1936] The youngsters (along with their parents) march along to the festival area. Children and their parents relaxing and frolicking about in a grassy area: playing soccer, drinking chocolate milk, and being sociable.

Note(s)

  • This summer Sunday school trip was affiliated with a Christian association that gathered in a hall located on Quadtstrasse. The hall was also the place of worship for a Lutheran congregation that some Vosskamp family members participated in (they played the organ at services).
