Scope and Content

The file contains several index of names of women and man who demonstrated in the Rosenstrasse for the release of their beloved ones of the captivity by the Nazis. In addition wittnesses reports of participants of the Rosenstrasse protest can be read. The Rosenstrasse protest was a collective street protest on Rosenstrasse (Rose street) in Berlin during February and March 1943. It was initiated and sustained by the non-Jewish (Aryan) spouse and relatives of Jews who had been arrested for deportation. The protests by these intermarried German women and men continued until their beloves ones were released. It was the only continuous street demonstration by Germans against the deportation of the Jews. Beside a data sheet of hostage execution by the Nazis is attached. All the lists contain their names and the adresses, as well as the possibility to get their adress if they moved. Also some letters from the 'Amt für Wiedergutmachung' (Federal German Restitution office) regarding the identity of participants of the Rosenstrasse protest are attached.
