    The main function of the battalion was to guard important structures and sites (bridges, military storages, police offices, camps of the war prisoners, and forced labours camps of the Jews). Also soldiers of the battalion participated in persecution and annihilation of Jews. The fonds consists of correspondence concerning tasks for soldiers, reports and orders of the chiefs of the battalion, list of soldiers, and personal documents.

    Correspondence with the chief officer of the Battalion (previously the Kaunas Military Commandant) about activities and soldiers; the loose lists of the register of the residents (including names of soldiers) was compiled on 27 May 1942.

    • 3925 personal files. The fonds is without subfonds. Almost all documents are handwritten.

    Personal files of the students of the Vilnius University. The files consist of various documents (applications, certificates of birth, graduation from the school certificates, reports). 20% of files are with Jewish names. The files on 1939-1941 years consist of the names of the potencially killed Jews in 1941-1944. The files from 1944-1946 consist of the information of the Jews survivor who applied for the studies at the university after the WWII.
