  1. Righteous Among the Nations Collection.

    The files concern rescuers recognized as Righteous Among the Nations and honoured by Yad Vashem. It is only an indication of the actual number of rescuers, since it is based on the cases brought to the attention of Yad Vashem. Most Righteous were recognised thanks to the requests made by rescued Jews. By January 1st 2014, there were 1665 files of Belgian rescuers. There is a file for every rescue case, containing the documents gathered through the process of recognition. One will find correspondence, notes, sometimes photographs, and material related to the recognition ceremonies.

  2. The Romanian Collection: Documentation, mostly from the Holocaust period, regarding the fate of the Romanian Jews

    The first 82 files in the Record Group include documentation of the Jewish organizations which were active in Romania, 1941-1947: The Central Council of Romanian Jews; The Federation of the Union of Communities; The Joint Distribution Committee; The Union of Romanian Jews; The Jewish Party; the General Jewish Council and the Jewish Democratic Committee. The rest of the files contain mainly personal documentation submitted to the Yad Vashem Archive by private people on an on-going basis.

  3. Saly Mayer Archive: Documentation regarding the activities of Saly Mayer, President of SIG (the Union of Jewish Communities in Switzerland), on behalf of the Joint Distribution Committee (JDC)

    The documentation is from 1939-1950. Most of the documentation describes the activities of Saly Mayer as the (unofficial) representative of the JDC in Switzerland during World War II.Saly Mayer transferred JDC funds to persecuted Jews in Europe and Shanghai in different ways.   4. The She’erit Hapletah Collection - Displaced Persons life in the camps, 1945-1948

    In this Collection there is documentation regarding the lives of the displaced persons (DPs) in the camps. It contains thousands of placards from the camps, mainly concerning cultural and artistic matters, religious life, sport, elections and political parties. Additionally, there are announcements , principally issued by administrative departments in the Eschwefe DP camp and the Feldafing DP camp. There are letters or surveys on subjects related to daily life in the DP camps in a few individual files.

    This collection includes personal files of SS officers above the rank of Untersturmfuehrer has been kept at the BDC. In the files there is varied documentation, and in certain instances, the BDC personnel have added documentation regarding a specific officer from other collections in the BDC archive.   6. Testimonies of Holocaust Survivors collected by the Central Jewish Historical Commission in Poland, 1944-1947

    The collection consists of approximately 7,200 testimonies collected by the Centralna Żydowska Komisja Historyczna (Central Jewish Historical Committee) in Poland during its active years, 1944-1947. After the establishment of the ZIH (Jewish Historical Institute) the documentation was transferred to the ZIH Archives, and catalogued as Records Group 301. In the collection there is a large variety of testimonies given by Holocaust survivors regarding their lives in the ghettos, labor camps and concentration camps, as well as testimonies from survivors who fought in partisan units and survivor...

  7. Testimonies, diaries and memoirs from the Holocaust period and regarding the Holocaust

    In the collection there are diaries, testimonies and memoirs written mostly by survivors with some material written by Jews who perished in the Holocaust. The content of the documentation is varied and multi-lingual. Most of the documentation was written and documented after the war, and the rest, mainly diaries, during the Holocaust. Those who were persecuted have documented their personal experiences, and through this documentation it is possible to closely follow the personal stories of the writers before the war, during the war and afterwards.

  8. The Testimony Collection gathered by the Central Historic Committee of the Liberated Jews in Munich, 1946-1948

    During the three years of its existence, the Central Historic Committee (CHC) gathered approximately 2,550 testimonies from Holocaust survivors from different countries within occupied Europe. The testimonies deal with the fate of the survivors in various countries during the Nazi occupation.
