  1. Oral history interview with Hana Lowy Weiner

    Consists of one audiotape oral history with Hana Lowy Weiner, who was born in Plsen, Czechoslovakia in 1924. In the tape, Mrs. Weiner describes her deportation to Theresienstadt. She was later deported again, first to Auschwitz, and then to Christianstadt, a subcamp of Gross Rosen. She managed to escape from a death march and lived under an assumed name, hidden by a non-Jewish aunt in Prague until the end of the war. Her parents perished in the Holocaust.   2. Zalcman family portrait

    Consists of one portrait of the family of Abraham Avrum Zalcman in Nowy Dwor, Poland, taken most likely in 1927. The photograph, which was sent to family members in the United States prior to the Holocaust, depicts Golda Zalcman, Shifra Litman, Beyla-Riva Zalcman, Jacob Litman, Abraham Avrum Zalcman, Chana Zalcman Litman, Yehuda Meyer Litman, Ruchl Zalcman, Nute Zalcman, Yenta Zalcman, and Yechiel Zalcman. Only Jacob Litman survived the Holocaust.

    Consists of a letter of recommendation; written by Maxwell M. Luchs on behalf of Selma Bendremer (donor) to the Office of Field Relations and Placement,, Teachers College, Columbia University;. The letter describes her work overseas with the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (AJDC), beginning on 1 October 1945.

  8. Dr. Fritz P. Gluckstein collection

    Consists of an official document issued 13 Dec. 1935, by the Chief of Police in Berlin to Georg Gluckstein [donor’s father], stating Georg has been awarded the “Ehrenkreuz fuer Frontkaempfer” (cross of honor for combat veterans); the award was presented to Georg after he was dismissed from his position as a municipal court judge in 1933 because he was Jewish].

Issued May 17, 1944, valid until May 17, 1945, and prolonged until May 17, 1948. Includes an identification photograph and official stamps of internment camps and refugee homes in which Max Karl Liebmann stayed while in refuge in Switzerland. Dates begin December 22, 1942 and end February 15, 1948.

    Consists of letters exchanged among the Engelbrecht family while Johann (Hans) Engelbrecht, the donor's father, was imprisoned in Buchenwald and subsequently in a Frankfurt, Germany, prison ,and Frida Engelbrecht, donor's mother, was imprisoned in Frankfurt, Germany; photographs, and German-issued prisoner of war camp scrip. Includes the last letter, dated November 1941, that Hans received from Frida, and which he carried in his wallet until he died. Frida Engelbrecht perished in Auschwitz on 21 February 1943.
