    In this fonds we find 6 relevant files, mostly containing correspondence, reports and other documents. We note: reports on the situation of (exiled) Jews in Belgium (file S25/7853; years 1940-1945), reports on i.a. Belgian industry and trade during the war (S25/10759; 1941-1944) as well as files concerning: the situation in Belgium during the Second World War (S25/9321; 1939-1944), trade relations with Belgium (S25/7396; 1947), Zionist activity in Belgium (S25/1996; 1926-1947) and the local Palestine Office (S25/603/4; 1925).

    This collection includes thousands of notes written by Isaac Prins, a large quantity of newspaper clippings and a lot of material on Dutch and Belgian Jews, topics in which Prins was very interested.   5. Questionnaires completed by Landraete (Districts) in Germany regarding the Jewish communities throughout Germany, 1946-1947

    The Central Historical Commission (CHC) of the Central Committee of Liberated Jews in Munich distributed questionnaires among the regional and municipal authorities, mainly in the American Occupied Zone in Germany. The purpose of these questionnaires was to gather information regarding the number of Jews living in various places in 1933 and during the Nazi period, as well as the number of Jews who perished. The questionnaires also contain questions regarding Nazi concentration camps in those areas.

  6. Questionnaires filled out by children in the Foehrenwald DP camp, 1945-1946

    The questionnaires include questions concerning the names of family members, their places of origin and the general background of the children. On the reverse side of each questionnaire there is a short report regarding the history of the child from the day s/he was deported to the ghetto, the camps to which s/he was deported, when s/he was separated from his/her family members and places where s/he was from after the liberation until his/her arrival at the DP camp.

    The Record Group includes correspondence with relief and welfare organizations in Britain and Germany during the Nazi period and after the war, reports regarding the activities of these organizations and reports from visits of Jewish leaders in Germany after the war, including much information concerning the situation of the Jews living in various places in the country.

  9. The Recha Freier Archive: Founder of Youth Aliyah in Germany, 1935-1951

    The collection contains Recha Freier's personal files, including correspondence with various international organizations, among them the Hadassah Women's Zionist Organization of the United States, which directed its main efforts to the project to rescue Jewish children during the Holocaust.

    The Collection contains documentation regarding the activities of the Committee during the war as well as its post-war activities. In the Collection from the war period, there is correspondence between Committee members and Jews living under the German regime and correspondence with family members living in the free world and trying to help their Jewish relatives living under the German regime.   15. Righteous Among the Nations Collection.

    The files concern rescuers recognized as Righteous Among the Nations and honoured by Yad Vashem. It is only an indication of the actual number of rescuers, since it is based on the cases brought to the attention of Yad Vashem. Most Righteous were recognised thanks to the requests made by rescued Jews. By January 1st 2014, there were 1665 files of Belgian rescuers. There is a file for every rescue case, containing the documents gathered through the process of recognition. One will find correspondence, notes, sometimes photographs, and material related to the recognition ceremonies.

  16. The Romanian Collection: Documentation, mostly from the Holocaust period, regarding the fate of the Romanian Jews

    The first 82 files in the Record Group include documentation of the Jewish organizations which were active in Romania, 1941-1947: The Central Council of Romanian Jews; The Federation of the Union of Communities; The Joint Distribution Committee; The Union of Romanian Jews; The Jewish Party; the General Jewish Council and the Jewish Democratic Committee.     This fonds contains correspondence with Aide aux Israélites Victimes de la Guerre (file S104/388; years 1947-1949) and the Palestine Office in Belgium (S104/163; 1945-1953), concerning requests for information on missing persons.

  19. The She’erit Hapletah Collection - Displaced Persons life in the camps, 1945-1948

    In this Collection there is documentation regarding the lives of the displaced persons (DPs) in the camps. It contains thousands of placards from the camps, mainly concerning cultural and artistic matters, religious life, sport, elections and political parties. Additionally, there are announcements , principally issued by administrative departments in the Eschwefe DP camp and the Feldafing DP camp. There are letters or surveys on subjects related to daily life in the DP camps in a few individual files.
