  1. Documentation regarding the Holocaust from regional and local archives in Germany

    The Record Group contains documentation gathered from state, regional and local archives in Germany. In the documentation there is much information regarding the persecution of the Jews on the local level, including deportations, as well as information regarding life in the Jewish communities, Jewish property and sometimes, lists of local Jews.

  2. Search Bureau for Missing Relatives.

    This fonds contains correspondence with Aide aux Israélites Victimes de la Guerre (file S104/388; years 1947-1949) and the Palestine Office in Belgium (S104/163; 1945-1953), concerning requests for information on missing persons.

  3. The Jewish Press Agency in Switzerland- JUNA - newspaper clippings collection, 1936-1965

    The collections consists of newspaper clippings, mainly about the condition of the Jewish people in Nazi occupied Europe.

  4. The Matilde Finzi-Bassani Personal Archive , Italy

    The Collection contains Matilde Finzi-Bassani's personal documentation as well as much documentation regarding the anti-Fascist underground in Italy.

  5. Maxime Steinberg Collection.

    This collection contains photocopies of original archival documents collected by Maxime Steinberg and used to write his magnum opus L’étoile et le fusil. The documents concern topics such as Jewish resistance, rescue of Jews etc. during the German occupation.

  6. Religion (facilities, synagogues, various religious organisations).

    File 5 titled “Belgium” contains documents concerning events organised by the Jewish communities in Brussels (in 1946).

  7. Orphanages, children’s homes.

    File 44-2 contains, among others, circulars regarding the organisation of vacations for orphans (years 1945-1946) in Belgium.

  8. Persecutions, pogroms, self-defense, help to victims.

    In file 493-11 titled “Belgium” we find announcements for events organised by the Jewish communities in Brussels (in 1946).

  9. Archives in Belgium.

    For the sake of completeness we mention this collection, which consists of copies of archival material from various official and institutional archives in Belgium (such as state, provincial or city archives). At the time of writing it mostly contains material from the city archives and provincial archives of Antwerp.

  10. American Jewish Conference, New York (Office of the WJC).

    In this fonds we note two relevant files, originating from the Department of Overseas Relations. See the files “Belgium. Restitution” (C7/1290; 1946) and “Belgium” (C7/1210; 1946-1948).

  11. Office of David Ben Gurion.

    In this fonds we note the file S44/244, containing correspondence on the situation of the Jews and Zionism in Belgium (1944-1945).

  12. Immigration Department, Office in Istanbul.

    We note the file L15/1181, containing correspondence on the persecution of the Jews in France, Belgium and the Netherlands in 1940-1944.
