  1. Archives of the West London Synagogue of British Jews

    The archive is composed of correspondence and synagogue papers, 1841-1942, with the principal run of general correspondence files starting in 1863. For the period 1911-23 the files have been sorted alphabetically as well as annually. Earlier correspondence relates to synagogue matters including the prayer books, appeals, the organ, arrears of subscriptions, etc. There are files of applications for membership or seats, copies of the treasurer's reports and financial statements, a lease of synagogue property and papers relating to the appointment of ministers.

    This collection contains the personal papers of Aron Adolf Neiss and his family, former Jewish refugees from Vienna. The Neiss family originally came from Poland but had moved to Vienna by the 1920s. Aron and his son emigrated to England in July 1939.     This collection contains letters sent by Jewish refugee Dr Walter Manfred ('Fred') Bergmann, a medical surgeon, to his wife Ruth Bergmann, first from an internment camp in Huyton, Liverpool and then, after transfer of the camp, from Douglas on the Isle of Man (1687/1-41).
