    This collection contains letters sent by Jewish refugee Dr Walter Manfred ('Fred') Bergmann, a medical surgeon, to his wife Ruth Bergmann, first from an internment camp in Huyton, Liverpool and then, after transfer of the camp, from Douglas on the Isle of Man (1687/1-41). (See also transcripts and translations of letters 1687/14-41 (1687/2).) There is only one letter written by Ruth Bergmann to her husband.     This collection consists of letters received by Jakob Wühl in London from members of his family, German speaking Jews of Polish nationality, who lived in Leipzig. Also included is correspondence between other family members. The family became victims of the 'Polen-Aktion', a series of expulsions and deportations in the earlier stages of the Holocaust.     This collection contains correspondence from Dr Siegfried Hönich, who lived in Frankfurt, Hesse, to his financée Steffi in Berlin. The last letters were sent to Steffi in England after she had fled anti-Jewish persecutions in Nazi-Germany.     Correspondence from the Embassy of Israel to K Ronau regarding his assistance with the compilation of protocols and recording of testimonies for the Adolf Eichmann trial. Included is a copy of Hungarian born Lili Bernstein's (alias Lily Mathe) testimony recorded by K Ronau in December 1960. Lily Mathe was travelling Europe as part of a gypsy orchestra since 1929.     This collection contains copies of the files of the Rosenthal family compiled by the Gestapo. The Jewish family was forced to emigrate from Berlin in 1943. The documents include declaration forms of financial assets confiscated by the state. The family requested to see these documents as part of their compensation claim at the Restitution Office in Berlin in 1966.

    This collection contains the diary of Rudolf Manes (1699/1) and personal papers of Philipp and Eva Manes (see also WL Doc 1346 for Philipp Manes's papers). Rudolf Manes was the oldest son of Gertrud Elias and Philipp Manes. Philipp Manes was a German Jewish fur trader who was deported to Terezin concentration camp and perished with his wife in Auschwitz in 1944.
