Aaron P. Holocaust testimony

Videotape testimony of Aaron P., who was born in the Hague, Netherlands in 1927 and raised in Amsterdam. He recalls attending public school; a pleasant life surrounded by extended family; German invasion in May 1940; anti-Jewish restrictions, including expulsion from school; round-ups of Jews; he and his sister being hidden by the underground with a family in Wormerveer; obtaining false papers; meetings with their parents who were hidden nearby; his parents' capture and deportation; returning to Amsterdam in August 1944; the underground hiding them two weeks later in a rural town; liberation; returning to Amsterdam; visiting relatives in the Hague; he and his sister emigrating to the United States to join his uncles in 1949; marriage in 1952; and he and his wife visiting people who hid him. Mr. P. notes learning of his parents' deaths from the Red Cross and from prisoners who were with them in concentration camps; continuing gratitude to and contact with his rescuers; and not sharing details of his story with his children. He shows photographs and reads from a book about hiding in the rural town.
