Acquisition
Source of acquisition is the Arkhiyon ha-merkazi le-toldot ha-ʻam ha-Yehudi (Central Archives for the History of the Jewish People (CAHJP)). The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received this collection via the United States Holocaust Museum International Archives Project in Sept. 2014.
Scope and Content
Contains records of various Jewish communities and Jewish organizations in Ecuador. Includes records of the laws and constitution of Ecuador mainly dealing with immigration regulations, minutes and reports of the Board of Directors, correspondence with and between community members and Jewish organizations such as the World Jewish Congress and other organizations, lists of community members, commemoration books, circulars, photographs of various festivities, reports and invitations from the B'nai B'rith Lodges in Asuncion, Bogota, Caracas, Havana, La Paz, Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, and Santiago de Chile, records on Zionists activities in all Jewish communities in Ecuador, documents regarding restitution from Germany to the community members, and various materials like Hebrew poems written in Siberia, German theater manuscripts, the Ecuadorian painting exhibition catalog, newspaper clippings dealing with Arab-Jewish-British conflict in Palestine, and other newspaper clippings in German.
