Acquisition

Forms part of the Claims Conference International Holocaust Documentation Archive at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. This archive consists of documentation whose reproduction or acquisition was made possible with funding from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.

Source of acquisition is the Archiwum Państwowe w Kielcach, Poland, Sygn.248. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the digitized collection via the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum International Archival Programs Division in Jan. 2016. This is a cooperative project based on the agreement between USHMM and Yad Vashem, Israel.

Scope and Content

Records of the Municipal School Board, which supervised the activities of all schools in Kielce before the war. Included are numerous lists of Polish and Jewish schoolchildren. The Board granted and withdrew licenses for teaching and corresponded with the schools. Among the materials are documents related to Jewish private schools in Kielce.

System of Arrangement

Arranged in seven series: 1. High schools, 1926-1929; 2 High schools, 1930; 3. Elementary Schools, 1926-1927; 4. Jewish private schools, 1927-1928; 5. Registers of children from other schools, 1924-1930; 6. Records of Public elementary schools named H. Sienkiewicz and St. Staszic in Kielce, 1932-1933; 7. Registers of children born in the years 1910-1918.
