Acquisition
The Belgian government collected records during the post-World War II period from a wide variety of sources including concentration and prisoner of war camps, relief and charity organizations, hospitals and prisons. Records were originally with the Belgian Ministry of Health then transferred to the Centre d'Etudes et de Documentation Guerre et Sociétés contemporaines (CEGES). The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the collection via the United States Holocaust Museum International Archives Project in 2002.
Scope and Content
Contains records relating to the fate of Jewish and non-Jewish Belgians throughout Europe during the period of 1933 to 1948. Includes name lists from a wide variety of sources such as concentration and prisoner of war camps, relief and charity organizations, hospitals, prisons, and similar institutions.
