Acquisition
Source of acquisition is the Public Record Office (National Archives of United Kingdom). The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the filmed collection via the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum International Program Division in July 2001. Reels 49 through 98 were later added to the collection on 29 Aug. 2002, additional accretion arrived in 2010 and 2011 (Ca. 25,000 digital images).
Scope and Content
Contains correspondence relating to persecution and atrocities against Jews; refugees from Germany and Austria; disturbances in Palestine; the formation of a Jewish fighting force; immigration issues; German war criminals, and files on the conditions for Jews in occupied Europe including, Germany, Slovakia, Italy, Hungary, Iraq, and Poland.
