Aleksander Kulisiewicz compiled the research materials series in the 1960s and 1970s in preparation for the writing and publication of his anthology of concentration camp music. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum purchased the materials along with other series of Kulisiewicz's collection in 1990. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the materials in Mar. 1992.

Contains primarily correspondence between Aleksander Kulisiewicz and former camp prisoners concerning music, art, and other cultural aspects of life in various concentration camps and killing centers. Also includes testimonies, autobiographies, and biographies relating to various former camp prisoners and theatrical scripts, librettos, musical scores, poems, and photographs from various camps. The dates range from the early 1960s to the late 1970s.
