Cite YIVO Institute for Jewish Research as custodian of the original records
The UGIF index cards are a part of record group 210 at YIVO Institute for Jewish Research in New York City. YIVO archivist Zosa Szajkowski arranged the collection in alphabetical order in1957. A grant from the S.H. and Helen R. Scheuer Foundation assisted in further processing in 1988. Centre de Documentation Juive Contemporaine in Paris and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum provided additional funds for the microfilming of Folder 22.3 in 1998. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the microfilm in May 1999.
Scope and Content
Contains Folder 22.3 from YIVO Record Group 210. File of about 35,000 Union Générale des Israélites de France (UGIF) membership index cards for the occupied zone. The cards served to register and control the payments to the UGIF. Each card contains the following information: family last name; first name; date and place of birth; sex; citizenship; occupation; address; identification number; date of issuance and by whom issued; and place of registration in accordance with the ordinance of October 18, 1940, or the Law of June 2, 1941. The bottom of each card bears a UGIF serial number.
