Forms part of the Claims Conference International Holocaust Documentation Archive at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. This archive consists of documentation whose reproduction and/or acquisition was made possible with funding from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.
From the Żydowski Instytut Historyczny im. Emanuela Ringelbluma (ŻIH), Sygn. 352. After liquidation of the Centralny Komitet Żydów w Polsce (CKŻP) the records were transferred to the ŻIH Archives.The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the collection from the ŻIH via the United States Holocaust Museum International Archives Project in Dec. 2012.
Scope and Content
Contains the records of the Provincial Jewish Committee in Warsaw (Wojewódzki Komitet Żydowski w Warszawie, WKŻ), which was established in September 1944 and was subordinated to the Central Committee of Jews in Poland (Centralny Komitet Żydów w Polsce, CKŻP). Records consist of correspondence, organizational files, testimonies, statistics, personal files from the staff, financial records relating to matters of the survivors of the Holocaust.
System of Arrangement
Arranged into seven series: Series 1: Organization files: circular letters, minutes of sessions, resolutions, correspondence, memorials, testimonies of witnesses, lists of the staff, the materials concerning the organization events; Series 2: Files of individual departments of the Wojewódzki Komitet Żydowski w Warszawie (WKŻ): statistics, files of the Department of Youth, the Department of Social Welfare, and Department of Organization, Department of Control and Productivity; Series 3: Personal files of the WKŻ staff including resumes and personal questionnaires; Series 4: Official correspondence and correspondence with private individuals; Series 5: Materials on relief: applications, powers of attorney, card files of people who obtained help; Series 6: Financial files as reports, bills of lading, book-keeping and other documents; Series 7: Regional Jewish Committees subordinated to WKŻ in Warsaw: lists of Jews inhabiting individual counties; correspondence; minutes of sessions from Ciechanów, Góra Kalwaria, Legionowo, Ostrów Mazowiecka, Płońsk, Otwock, Płock, Siedlce, Sierpc, Węgrów, Wyszogród.
