Forms part of the Claims Conference International Holocaust Documentation Archive at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. This archive consists of documentation whose reproduction and/or acquisition was made possible with funding from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.
From the Archivio Segreto Vaticano (Vatican Secret Archives). The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the collection via the United States Holocaust Museum International Archives Program in November 2009.
Scope and Content
Contains records from pontifical representatives, the Congregation for Extraordinary Ecclesiastical Affairs, and the archive of the Vatican’s Secretary of State. Includes records representing the Vatican communications with Church representatives in numerous countries, as well as materials from Secretary of State Eugenio Pacelli, later Pius XII.
System of Arrangement
Arranged in three series: (A) Pontifical Representatives (alphabetical by geographic location), (B) Congregation of Extraordinary Ecclesiastical Affairs, 1922-1939, and (C) Secretary of State, 1936-1939 (chronological).
