Acquisition
Forms part of the Claims Conference International Holocaust Documentation Archive at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. This archive consists of documentation whose reproduction and/or acquisition was made possible with funding from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.
Source of acquisition is the Żydowski Instytut Historyczny im. Emanuela Ringelbluma (ŻIH), Sygn. 303/V. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the collection ŻIH via the United States Holocaust Museum International Archives Project in July 2009.
Scope and Content
Consists of 31,175 registration cards of Jewish survivors in Warsaw after the war. The cards contain full name, date of birth, parents’ names, mother’s maiden name, pre-1939 address, places of residence during the war, postwar name changes, occupation, registration date, and address. Some include source of livelihood. Only15,270 survivors listed a Warsaw address.
System of Arrangement
The system of arrangement of the source repository has been preserved on the digital files. The registration cards are organized alphabetically by the surname of survivor. Digital files also are organized in alphabetical order by survivor names.
