Source of acquisition is the German Federal Archives (Bundesarchiv) Berlin; Record Group DY 55 and DY 54. Extracted from these files, the names of victims were registered in a database. The names of 1,090 Jews, Communists, Social Democrats, and other opponents of the Nazi regime are listed in the finding aid. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the collection from the Bundesarchive via the United States Holocaust Museum International Archives Project in June 2009.

Restrictions on access. To access Bundesarchiv collections researchers must fill out a "Request for Access to Bundesarchiv Documents." German and English-language copies of the "Law on the Preservation and Use of Federal Archival Documents" are available at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives reference desk. The requirement was stipulated by the Bundesarchiv in the cooperative agreement signed with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
