Biographical History
Lazar (Eliazar) Motylev was a lifelong supporter of Jewish cultural autonomy in Russia, and was an active member of various Jewish organizations such as Kultur Liga, Committee for the relief of Jewish war victims, Jewish People’s University, Society of Jewish Music, Society of Jewish Artists and other such groups.

Forms part of the Claims Conference International Holocaust Documentation Archive at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. This archive consists of documentation whose reproduction and/or acquisition was made possible with funding from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.
From the State Archive of the Russian Federation, Fond 9535, Opis 1. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the collection from the State Archive via the United States Holocaust Museum International Archives Project in June 2009.

Contains reports and drafts of presentations and research papers related to the activities of various Jewish cultural and political organizations in Russia and the Soviet Union. It also includes documents, meeting minutes, and bylaws, as well as newspapers, concert programs, catalogs of exhibits, and flyers.
