The Jewish Central Office in Romania was established by Law no. 1090 of December 16, 1941 with the dissolution of the Federation of the Union of Jewish Communes of Romania. During the period of 1941-1944, the Jewish Central Office in Romania was the only institution authorized to represent the interests of the Jewish community in Romania. To the Jewish Central Office in Romania there were subordinated all institutions of public interest, charity, cultural and religious societies of different Jewish communities across the country. The Jewish Central Office in Romania functioned on the basis of a regulation issued on January 31, 1942. According to this regulation, the activity of the Jewish Central Office in Romania was carried out under the control of a government representative who was subordinated to the President of the Council of Ministers. The Jewish Central Office in Romania was headed by a president and a secretary general.

Centrala Evreilor din România a fost înfiinţatǎ prin Legea Nr. 1090 din 16.XII.1941 in condiţiile desfiinţǎrii Federaţiei Uniunilor de Comunitǎti Evreeşti din România. In perioada cît a funcţionat 1941-1944 Centrala Evreilor din România a fost singura instituţia autorizatǎ sǎ reprezinte interesele colectivitǎţii evreeşti din România. Centralei Evreilor din România îi erau subordonate toate instituţiile de interes obştesc, societǎţile de binefacere, culturale si religioase, ale comunitǎţilor evreeşti din ţarǎ. Centrala Evreilor din România a functionat pe baza unui regulament emis in 31 ianuarie 1942. Conform acestui regulament, activitatea Centralei Evreilor din România s-a desfǎşurat sub controlul unui împuternicit al Guvernului care era subordonat Preşedintelui Consiluilui de Miniştri. Centrala Evreilor din România era condusǎ de un preşedinte şi un secretar general.
