Prof. Leni Yahil, the historian, donated the collection to Yad Vashem on 30 December 2004; Sarit Shavit, the researcher, submitted additional material (from File 36 on) to Yad Vashem in October 2009.

Zakres i treść

The collection includes documentation, newspaper clippings, lists, articles, booklets, doctoral dissertations, notes, Leni Yahil's correspondence and more. The documentation relates to the following subjects: the Jews of Denmark during the Holocaust; the Jews of Germany from the 1930s until the Holocaust; the Jews of Sweden, Norway and Finland during the Holocaust; Jewish communities in Western, Central and Eastern Europe between two world wars and during the Holocaust; the steps leading up to the Final Solution; ghettos; concentration and extermination camps and other topics.There is also correspondence between Prof. Yahil and various personages and researchers from the 1940s to the early 21st century. There are also files in the collection containing material collected by Prof. Yahil regarding her maternal grandfather, James Simon, one of the leaders of German Jewry from the late 19th century to the early 20th century, and the founder of the Hilfsverein der deutsche Juden ((Aid Association of German Jews) relief organization.

ארכיון לני יחיל, חוקרת השואה, 2002-1904 ההיסטוריונית פרופ' לני יחיל תרמה את האוסף ליד ושם ב-30 בדצמבר 2004. החוקרת שרית שביט מסרה תיעוד נוסף (מתיק 36 ואילך) ליד ושם באוקטובר 2009. באוסף מסמכים, קטעי עיתונים, רשימות, מאמרים, חוברות, עבודות דוקטורט, רישומים, התכתבויות של לני יחיל ועוד. התיעוד עוסק בנושאים הבאים: יהודי דניה בתקופת השואה, יהודי גרמניה משנות ה-30 ועד תקופת השואה, יהודי שוודיה, נורווגיה ופינלנד בתקופת השואה, קהילות יהודיות במערב אירופה, מרכזה ומזרחה בין שתי מלחמות העולם ובתקופת השואה, הדרך ל"פתרון הסופי", גטאות, מחנות ריכוז והשמדה ועוד. כמו כן, יש בתיעוד גם התכתבות בין פרופ' יחיל ובין אישים וחוקרים שונים משנות ה-40 ועד ראשית שנות ה-2000. באוסף גם תיקים עם חומר שאספה פרופ' יחיל על James Simon, ממנהיגי יהדות גרמניה בסוף המאה ה-19 וראשית המאה ה-20 ומייסדו של ארגון הסיוע Hilfsverein der deutsche Juden, שהיא הייתה צאצאיתו.
