The documentation in this Collection survived due to the initiative of Nachman Zonabend who was in a group of Jewish inmates brought to the Lodz Ghetto to clear away the rubble during the war. Zonabend stole into the building where the Ghetto Archive was kept, rescued the documentation at the risk of his life, and hid it until the end of the war.

The collection, from 1939-1945, includes Judenrat posters, circulars issued by the Jewish Community offices in the ghetto and Mordechaj Chaim Rumkowski, the Judenrat Chairman, editions of the ghetto newspaper,"Geto Zeitung", reports and articles by the ghetto archive workers, articles written in 1942 by Jozef Zelkowicz regarding the ghetto factories ["'resorts"] and excerpts from the chronicles of the Lodz Ghetto.

The documentation is invaluable for the history of the Lodz Ghetto. The collection, from 1939-1945, includes Judenrat posters, circulars issued by the Jewish Community offices in the ghetto and Mordechaj Chaim Rumkowski, the Judenrat Chairman, editions of the ghetto newspaper, "Geto Zeitung", reports and articles by the ghetto archive workers, articles written in 1942 by Jozef Zelkowicz regarding the ghetto factories ["'resorts"] and excerpts from the chronicles of the Lodz Ghetto. אוסף זונאבנד, תיעוד מגטו לודז' התיעוד שבאוסף זה שרד הודות ליוזמתו של נחמן זונאבנד שהיה בקרב קבוצת האסירים היהודים שהובאו לגטו Lodz לפנות את הריסותיו בתקופת המלחמה. זונאבנד התגנב לבניין שבו שכן ארכיון הגיטו , הציל את התיעוד תוך סיכון חייו והסתיר את התיעוד עד תום המלחמה. התיעוד הוא בעל ערך רב לתולדות גיטו Lodz. בכלל האוסף מהשנים 1945-1939 גם כרוזים של היודנרט, חוזרים של יו"ר היודנרט מרדכי חיים רומקובסקי ומשרדי הקהילה בגטו, גיליונות של עיתון הגטו "געטא צייטונג", דוחות וכתבות של עובדי ארכיון הגיטו, כתבות של יוסף זלקוביץ על הרסורטים בגטו מ-1942 וקטעים תוך הכרוניקה של גיטו Lodz. בדפית המולטימדיה מצורפת הקדמתו של נחמן זונאבנד לקטלוג של האוסף שהוציא יד ושם ב-1992.
