Extent and Medium
8,68 linear meters
Acquisition
After dissolution of the District Prosecutor in Karlovy Vary, its agenda was handed over to the Public Prosecutor in Cheb. At the end of 1957, documents were taken to the State Archives in Kadaň, where they were roughly arranged in 1958. After dissolution of the Kadaň site, the fonds was moved to the Žlutice branch of the State Archives in Plzeň, where it stayed until 2006, when it was taken to Klášter near Nepomuk. The fonds was arranged and inventoried in 2007.
Scope and Content
Archival records in the fonds are a valuable source relating to development of the German Reich justice system in 1938–1945. For study of Jewish history, it is possible in particular to use files documenting a wide range of cases of looting of Jewish property in Karlovy Vary after having been abandoned by the owners during the autumn of 1938 and spring of 1939, this in particular concerning inv. № 12, box № 1–7 and inv. № 13, box № 28–34 (criminal files ref. 1 PLs and 2 PLs, 1939).
System of Arrangement
Only the proper Criminal files (Handakten) ref. PLs and Indices to them (Strafprozessliste) have been preserved, and they are incomplete. Apart from this, only one Personal file has been preserved.
