Acquisition

Some of the files of the dissolved office were handed over to the Police Department of the District Office in Domažlice. In 1945, materials were taken over by the District National Committee in Domažlice, which handed them over in November 1959 to the State Archives in Plzeň. These files were arranged and inventoried in 1962. In April 1963, further documents of the office were handed over to the archive, but these have not yet been subject to archival arrangement.

Scope and Content

The fonds contains documents from the activity of the State Police Office in Domažlice. The vast majority of the preserved documents are constituted by associations’ files, but also matters of issuance of passports and emigration and the agenda of refugees from occupied areas inland in the autumn of 1938. Politically important files were not however preserved, these evidently having been destroyed before 1945. For study of Jewish history, it is possible to use in particular register books, this in particular concerning K 6 (List of passports issued, 1938–1939), K 7 (Index to this list, 1938–1939), K 8 (Records of travel visas issued, 1938–1939) and also K 16 (List of Jews and citizens of German nationality according to census sheets from 1910) and K 20 (Card index with names of refugees, 1939). Valuable data is also contained in part of the fonds kept under inv. № 44–46, call № U-I-3, 3a, 3b, box № 3–5, Refugees: lists and registration sheets, records of refugees from Slovakia and Carpathian Ruthenia, 1938–1939. From the associations’ agenda, attention must be paid to the following documents: Dissolved associations and administration of their property, 1939–1941 (inv. № 42, call № R-I-3, box № 2) and Files of Czech and German associations from occupied territory, 1938 (inv. № 47-48, call № Spol Za-1 and 2).

System of Arrangement

The arranged and inventoried part of the fonds contains in particular associations’ matters. A significant arranged part of the fonds is also constituted by Files on refugees from occupied territory in the autumn of 1938.
