Acquisition

The fonds was stored in the court building in May 1945. The fonds was handed over to the State Archives in Jablonec nad Nisou in 1959. The fonds was arranged in 1962, already in the archive in Liberec and was inventoried after handover of further files. An index was created in 1963 for the personal files of higher-ranking employees.

Scope and Content

The fonds contains files of the judicial agenda from the district of the Land Court Liberec from 1938–1945. General and collective files are preserved in the fonds, only fragments of staff files. Proper files of the criminal agenda capture cases relating to murders, suicides, robberies, moral and property offences, major road and rail accidents, unauthorised contact with prisoners etc. Individual cases relating to the Jewish population can be traced in the registers and indices (inv. № 1–148).

System of Arrangement

The fonds is structured into several groups: I. General files, II. Collective files, III. Personal files of employees (only a fraction of these has been preserved), IV. Proper criminal agenda according to individual references. Criminal files with reference Ns were not preserved.
