Przejęcie

In summer 1944 all the written material of rural stations in Moravia was transferred to Brno and then to Plauen in Saxony. Some of the files not intended for evacuation were incinerated at the start of 1945. The remaining part was taken to Terezín, from where it was taken to northern Bohemia along with the files from the Prague Gestapo. Some of the files then went to Weidhaus and Schirding in Bavaria, and some of the files then went back to Kdyně. The remaining documents left in the building of the Brno Gestapo were incinerated. The set of surviving documents were kept along with other written materials generated by the activities of the security forces during the time of the Protectorate. The fonds was first arranged around 1947 for the needs of the archive study institute, where a central card index was created without conventional inventory list. In 1980 the archival records were transferred by the State Security Investigation Administration to the Archives of the Federal Ministry of the Interior in Prague, from where they were transferred to the Moravian Provincial Archives in Brno in June 1988. The fonds was opened up in 1989 in the form of a catalogue, but after a break work was only completed in 2011. During organisation the original call numbers and division into boxes were retained.

Zakres i treść

The basis for the fonds consists of the surviving part of the registry office of the Brno branch of the Gestapo and all surviving rural stations in Moravia. The fonds contains the files of secured and investigated persons denounced for various reasons (listening to the radio, seditious speech against the Reich, sabotage etc.), records from actions conducted by the Gestapo against illegal resistance groups and actions conducted against Jews. The files also contain several hundred records about placement and escapes of persons from concentration, labour and other types of camps. Other records about Jews are to be found amongst misdemeanours (Aryanization of Jewish property) or in files about racial laws (application of racial purity law).

Sposób uporządkowania

The fonds is arranged in the form of a catalogue according to names and content, it also contains fragments of official records.
