History
The State Archive in Płock was created in 1919. In 1939 all archival holdings were transferred to the Konigsberg State Archive. They were protected by Soviet Army and located in the Old Records Archive in Warsaw. There was saved only 30% of holdings. Płock State Archive returned to existence according to the Decree of the Minister of Education from July 21 1950 as a County State Archive in Płock. In 1994, the Płock archive turned into an independent institution as The Płock State Archive.

Nowadays. The State Archive in Płock works on the ground of the Act on National Archival Records and Archives of July 14, 1983, Journal of Law, (Dziennik Ustaw) No 38, 1983.07.19 with later changes.
Building(s)
After the establishment of the Płock archive it was placed in the building of the Małachowski Secondary School. In 1929 it was relocated to the 1st floor of the County Office in Kolegialna street.
Archival and Other Holdings
The archive in Płock possesses the following kinds of holdings:
- records of towns and villages (19th and 20th century),
- self-government and local administration documents,
- documents of schools,
- documents of banks and financial institutions,
- birth, marriage and death records (catholic, protestant and orthodox),
- notarial files,
- documents of political parties (PZPR).

Opening Times
The State Archive's holdings are available in the workroom open Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday 9.00 - 15.00, Wednesday 9.00 - 17.30.

The access is regulated by Instruction No. 4 of the Head office of State Archives in Poland, dated February 1, 2013.
