The archives of the Historisch Centrum Overijssel stem from government agencies in Overijssel and Zwolle or private collections such as the City of Zwolle, provincial government, courts, notaries, land registry, public works, taxes and civil registry. Or even businesses, agricultural cooperatives, trade unions, foundations, churches, families and societies.

The Historisch Centrum Overijssel manages nearly 20 kilometers of archives, 15,000 charters (official documents on parchment), over 15,000 maps, prints, posters and drawings and about 150,000 photographs.

The Historisch Centrum Overijssel is open from Tuesday to Thursday from 9am to 5pm and on Friday from 9am to 1pm. The reading room is open on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9am to 5pm and on Thursday from 9am to 9pm.
