History

The Waterlands Archief was founded in 1979 as Streekarchief Waterland (Waterland Regional Archives), when the municipalities in the region agreed to let their historical archives and the statutory duties be managed by the archival institution. After the archives were moved to a new location in 2003 the name was changed to Waterlands Archief.

Archival and Other Holdings

The materials of the Waterland Archief range from documents from the Waterland region regarding measures taken against Jews, to documents on war damage, and documents on the disclosure of information on Jewish and German students.
