              <p xml:lang="eng"><![CDATA[In the Noord-Hollands Archief you can find public records and private archives. The government archives include: the administration of the province of North Holland and provincial services, such as Provincial Public Works and the Provincial Hospital; government institutions and government departments in North Holland, such as the Land Registry, the courts and prisons in North Holland; control of the municipalities Aalsmeer, Beverwijk, Bloemendaal, Haarlem, Haarlem and Spaarnwoude, Haarlemmermeer, Heemskerk, Heemstede, Uitgeest, Uithoorn, Velsen and Zandvoort, municipal services and companies in these municipalities other local government bodies in these municipalities (such as water boards). The private archives include those of churches (including the archives of the Diocese of Haarlem), companies, associations, families and individuals (such as the Haarlem regent family Van Valkenburg) that are or were involved in North Holland. Moreover, it is fairly uncommon that the North Holland Archives also manages some sixty archives of scientific institutions and internationally renowned scientists (such as the personal archives of the physicists Hendrik Lorentz and Pieter Zeeman, who both have won the Nobel Prize).

            <opening>Both locations of the Noord-Hollands Archief have a reading room. The reading room at the Jansstraat is opened from Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and Saturday  from 9am to 2pm (except in July and August). The reading room at the Kleine Houtweg is open from Tuesday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm.</opening>

          <accessibility question="yes">The archive at the Jansstraat is located in the center of Haarlem, only a five minutes walking distance from the train station. Parking is available at the parking garage at the Damstraat, Stationsplein or the Raaks. Parking is also possible in the Jansstraat, however there is only a very limited amount of parking spaces.

The location at the Kleine Houtweg is located just outside the center of Haarlem, at a walking distance of around 25 minutes from the train station. There is a parking lot reserved for visitors of the North Holland Archives.</accessibility>
