This fonds contains acts of the Committee created after the liberation of Italy from Nazi-fascism, on July 25th, 1945. The Mantua Committee had previously worked secretly, since July, 1944. The National Liberation Committee watched over public order, waiting for democratic election. Local committees depended on District Committee, which in turn was subordinated to the Regional one. In the fonds there are also pictures testifying atrocities perpetrated by the Nazis against Italian soldiers, in September 1943.

Istituita con decreto legislativo luogotenenziale 142 del 22 aprile 1945, allo scopo di giudicare i reati di collaborazionismo, la sezione della Corte Straordinaria d’Assise di Mantova tiene 122 processi, tra il 1945 e il 1947, a fascisti e collaborazionisti, per un totale di 267 imputati, tra cui 7 donne, accusati di reati importanti. Alcuni processi si sono conclusi con condanne a morte, nessuna delle quali è stata eseguita. La documentazione è relativa ai processi per fatti commessi tra l’8 settembre 1943 e il 25 aprile 1945.
