The building is located in the old city of Xanthi and was used as an orphanage for Greek and Armenian children after the Greco-Turkish War of 1919-1922.

The General State Archives holds 167 archives and collections from 1945 to 2010. It consists of administrative, juridical, educational files; correspondence files; and photograph collections.

Godziny otwarcia

The reading room is open Monday to Friday: 8.30 am to 14.30 pm. The Archive is closed on public holidays.

Warunki udostępniania

Photocopying is by request only and involves assessment by staff to determine if it is possible, with the item's preservation needs taking precedence. Digital cameras are allowed. The use of lap-tops is permitted. Researchers must seek the written permission of the archivist before publication of any material from the archival holdings, and the source must be acknowledged.

There are charges for photocopying/digital output. Services free of charge: entry to the reading room; use of finding aids/catalogues/computers; assistance from staff.
