Historia
After the establishment of the Federal State of Hesse the Archives held responsibility for its state ministries and the central public authorities in 1945. Prior to this, the Archives originated from the Ducal Nassau Central Archive. The Archives were officially named "Hessisches Hauptstaatsarchiv" in 1963. In 1985 the Archives were relocated to a new, modern archive building on Mosbacher Straße.
