The Ustredna Zidov was the Slovakian version of the Judenrat, and headed by Heinrich Schwartz. The Ustredna Zidov established Novaky, a labor camp, in the hope of saving Jews through ‘work as a means of rescue’. The Working Group broke with the Center when deportations began in 1942-03.
